This is a pretty big day for this little project. It is officially off the ground. I got notice this morning that it had been approved as a project on Sourceforge.net. While I don't have time right now to go into too many details regarding the project, I would like to let it be known that I am looking for developers that are interested in helping create a top-notch, Open Source Active Directory utility. I am really hoping that this tool can be a beginning of a whole suite of utilities that will make the lives of us admins easier.
Also, for those interested, I would like to introduce myself. I am a blue-collar worker turned white-collar. I think that may be why I tend to love Open Source software so much. Just like in my previous professions, I am an implementor. Without the right tools and access to information, it is almost impossible to get anything done. Proprietary software all too often gives you tools that are too limited and information that is so lacking (often on purpose) it makes getting the job accomplished overly complicated. Share code. Share information. Share ideas. That is what truly makes up a great community.
Besides my passion for OSS, I am basically a pretty normal guy. I live in Kirkland, WA and spend my days pluggin away as a sys admin. I am also a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. While I am not at drill, I am usually spending my time relaxing with my beautiful wife.
I hope this project can get a lot of attention. I am not a developer. I am more along the lines of a Windows scripter. I have had limited experience with .net, c, c#, etc. However, I really would like to make this tool something great. I think its biggest downside right now is that it is an HTA script.
